Going against conventional wisdom, Derek Sivers delivers a TED talk about why you should not tell anyone about your goals. Simply put, when you tell someone about your goals – you will get acknowledged and even accolades for such “good” or “lofty” ambitions. The good feeling you get from this tricks your brain into thinking that you’ve already achieved it – which makes you less likely to succeed. You would be less likely to push yourself harder towards achieving your goals since your mental dexterity to push you towards commitment has been lowered.
